Critic

Popular culture is studied because it is something relatable to the majority of people either in present time or past time.  Potential threatening events such as Columbine maybe prevented if popular culture is studied because history has a habit of repeating itself.  Studying popular culture is also great for economics to determine which trends are in style so business owners know what products to make and distribute. Popular culture should help people understand themselves to see if a certain part of popular culture is part of them, or if they are pretending to be a part of it.  Popular culture helps people understand one another, and should help people become more tolerable to understanding something new before placing judgment upon it. 

            A critic should understand the background to whatever they are criticizing. They should be asking themselves who benefits the most from that aspect of popular culture, and the overall meaning behind whatever they saw or listened to. So they can understand why a person was deemed as a figure of that part of popular culture.  To be a critic of popular culture is to be an unemotional sponge soaking everything up, but not allowing personal opinion or preference to cloud their judgment. Critics are in tune with their surroundings in popular culture able to distinguish in simple terms why something does not belong in that category while something else does.  They should be in a constant mode of cross referencing putting thoughts together to either relate something to someone or to question something. Almost like a detective putting pieces of the puzzle together to state their case and reason.  Relatable research should be presented whenever possible so everyone has an understanding of why it is being said.

I hope to understand the different points of views from people so I be more empathetic to a like or dislike.  I want to be as fair as possible when making an assessment placing all arguments into an issue before coming to a conclusion.  Also, I would like to understand what is considered popular culture and what is not based on statistics.  Popular culture affects history and I would like to see more of its past and potential effects.  I have always considered myself a people person able to relate with anyone on any level. Being a good critic will allow me connect with people a little better and make me a little more tolerable.  There are a lot of parts of popular culture I do not like or understand, and I want to be able to find a common method in analyzing those parts.  I want to look at an aspect of popular culture another way I have never thought to look at it.  So I can see what other parts of popular culture clouded my thoughts keeping me from seeing that angle when I had first encountered it.  Maybe I can find out how popular culture tricks me into believing in something I never thought I would believe in.
